Districts and schools in California have switched to a new statewide assessment system. The new assessments focus on California Common Core Standards and are administered through a computerized testing system developed by the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium.

The assessments will begin at Buri Buri Elementary in mid-March or early April and run through the end of the school year.  All students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade will complete a total of approximately 6 hours of testing in English Language Arts and Mathematics.  This time will be broken into several testing sessions which will take place in the school's computer lab.  Fifth grade students will also take CAST for Science.

Scores for the Smarter Balanced assessment are expected approximately 6 weeks following the end of the testing period.
