5th Grade Supplies

2020/2021 (updated 6.1.20)

We would like to welcome you and your child to the 5th grade school year 2020-2021 at Buri Buri Elementary School. We are suggesting that students bring the following supplies to the first day of class if possible. We have also included a class wish list of supplies. If you have any questions about these supplies, please contact your child’s teacher at the beginning of school.

1. A dictionary and thesaurus (for home use).

2. Supplies:

  • highlighter
  • scissors
  • colored pencils
  • crayons
  • washable markers
  • Washable Cloth Face Covering
  • 1 Bottle of Hand Sanitizer
  • ruler
  • #2 pencils (not mechanical)
  • blue/black pen
  • white glue
  • zipper pouch for supplies (no boxes and sharpies).

3. 2 spiral bound notebooks (reading, math)

4. Student planner - to be purchased at school $4.00

5. Student whiteboard – if possible (teachers have extras), black white board markers, and an eraser.

6. 2 folders with pockets

7. 1 pack of #2 pencils

Each of these articles should be clearly marked with the student’s name or initials to help keep track of misplaced supplies.

In addition, incoming 5th grade students should have multiplication facts memorized. This means not counting on fingers, using a chart, or drawing little tallies to count.  To assure your child reaches 5th grade proficiency, please help your child with multiplication.

Thank you for your support of Buri Buri’s efforts for continued academic excellence.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Hillman, Ms. Diep, and Ms. Stone

Morning Protocol

August 2020

Dear Parents,

All students and parents will receive a “School Policies Signature Form” at the beginning of the school year.  On it, they indicate that, “I have received, read, and discussed with my student Buri Buri’s School Wide Expectations, Safety and Playground & Cafeteria Rules (pages 9 & 10) with my student.”

The following is in the handbook that you will receive at the beginning of the year:

Cell Phones & Electronics

  • Students may carry cell phones with them at school, but they must be turned off and put away at all times.
  • If there is an emergency, please contact the office.
  • The possession of iPods, electronics, toys, trading cards or any play equipment from home is not permitted on campus.

Student Arrival

  • Arrival time at school is between 8:10 – 8:25 a.m.  Instruction begins at 8:25 a.m.
  • Students who arrive after 8:25 are considered tardy and must check-in in the office.
  • Please do not allow your child to arrive at school prior to 8:10 a.m.  There is no campus supervision for children before that time.
  • Classrooms open at 8:15 a.m.

Again, as a reminder, these rules can be found in the copy of the parent/student handbook you will receive. It can also be found on our school website under “About Us.”

Thank you for reviewing these rules with your child.
