Happy Friday!

We survived out first full week of Kindergarten! Picture envelopes and Pta letters were sent home.  Please join  and support the PTA as they work hand in hand with the school to make it a successful year for your child.

Thank you so much to the families who brought in snack for the month.

Please bring in September snack when you get a chance ;)

Snack time:

The children are given a snack every day at recess.  We ask that each family  donate a box of snack to share at the beginning of each month so we can share with the students everyday. The district has strict guidelines that each class must follow.  It would be great if some families could bring some snack for August before we start the whole class in Sept.

Here are some approved snacks:

Fresh Fruit

Fruit cups(no sugar added)

Dried Fruit

Whole Grain crackers

Low Fat Cheese

Low fat squeeze yogurts

Pic of the week: Eclipse day

Here are a few notes for the coming week:

Reading:

We are beginning our language arts unit.  The children have learned their first high frequency word ( I). They will be learning the second one this week (can).  Please review these words with them.  They should be able to say and recognize  the words.

Sight words:

I

Can

We have also learned the different parts of a book.  We have learned the front, back, title and title page of the book.  Please read with your child each night.

Math

We have learned/reviewed the basic shapes and colors.  Please make sure your child has mastered these.

The students have also been working hard on cutting.  If you feel your child needs more practice cutting pages at home, please let me know and I can send some home.

Writing:

Please practice your name at home.  First letter capital and lowercase for the rest.

Classwork:

If you see these on the paper it means:

PP ( please practice)

PF ( please finish)

Dates to remember:

Back to School Night Aug 31

Picture Day Aug 31

Reminders:

Please make sure your child has enough rest as the first few weeks can be a tough transition for them.  If you are late picking up your child, they will be in the office.  Please give them a call if you are running late.

I believe I have a complete email list now but if for some reason you are not supposed to be on my list or if I am missing a mom/dad of your child please do let me know.

Thanks again and it has been a super week in K!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Welcome to Kindergarten at Buri Buri Elementary!

My name is Eveley Cha and I am going to be your child's kindergarten teacher this year.  I hope that your child is just as excited as I am to start the new school year.  I am sure that many of you have questions about your child's kindergarten year, so I hope this email will answer some of your questions.

Dismissal time:

*Kindergarten/TK Students dismissed at 12:30 for the first 13 days of school:  8/16/16 - 9/2/16
After the first 13 days, dismissal will be at 1:30

Supply List:

Please do not label the supplies as we will be sharing them as a class.

The supply list is also on the buri buri website.

Supplies for Mrs. Cha

*1 blue pencil box (approx. 5"x8"x2")

*10 - 15 Elmers glue sticks

*1 white 1-inch thick hard binder (with a clear insert cover)

*1 "Fiskars" blunt tip scissors

*1 8-10 pack of Crayola thick markers

* 1 pack Crayola twistable crayons

* 1 container of baby wipes

* 1 24-pack Crayola crayons

*1 4oz. bottle Elmers white glue

We would like to request a $25 donation for art projects, homework rewards and other supplies that we will need to purchase throughout the year (cash or check made to Buri Buri).  Thank you for your support.

First Day of School:

Your child will need to bring a backpack to school each day to carry home papers/projects from school.  Please check the contents of the backpack daily. The office will be sending home very important forms the first day of school.  Please take the time fill them out and send them back asap.

Lunch and Snack:

There will be lunch every day in Kindergarten.  Please make sure that your child has their name located n the lunchbox.  If your child is buying lunch, please send the money is a zip lock bag/envelope with their name on it. Lunch is 2.75.  It is much easier to pay in the office so that their is money in your child's account rather than having them carry it.

I am super excited and a little nervous as this school year is about to start.  Please feel free to email me any questions to

Smiles,

Mrs. Cha
