Spring Testing

What:  Smarter Balanced Assessment

When:  Beginning Mid-March

Approximately 6 hours of testing.

Who:  Third through fifth grade students

Districts and schools in California are switching to a new statewide assessment system. The new assessments focus on California Common Core Standards and are administered through a computerized testing system developed by the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium.

The assessments will begin at Buri Buri Elementary in mid-March or early April and run through the end of the school year.  All students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade will complete a total of approximately 6 hours of testing in English Language Arts and Mathematics.  This time will be broken into several testing sessions which will take place in the school's computer lab.  Fifth grade students will also take the CST in science between March 26 - May 4.

Scores for the Smarter Balanced assessment are expected approximately 6 weeks following the end of the testing period.
