May 18 News

Dear Red Falcon Families,

In writing, we are working on end of the year thank you's: Miss Melissa, favorite teacher at Buri, and Chocolate Factory volunteers. In math, we have been converting between customary and metric systems. We are continue to work on the Mars project, which is due May 23.

I have sent home a letter listing all the work that needs to be finished in order to go on the picnic. They need to meet their AM goal for May, read 1 AR book, and complete their state and science projects. There are just a few students left who need to meet their goals.

On Friday, the students participated in a program called Chocolate Factory. They were placed in groups and had to create a chocolate factory model, and explain how the factory would run. They had a great time.

The end of the school year is quickly approaching. Here is a list of some of the upcoming events

  • 5th grade picnic May 25
  • Family Life May 29
  • 5th grade promotion and yearbook May 31

There is going to be a lot of correspondence regarding all the end of the year activities. Here is a list sent out so far:

  • Family Life permission slip
  • Yearbook ordering form - $10
  • Picnic permission slip (for those who have met their goals)
  • Promotion tickets

Regarding Family Life, I have the curriculum if anyone is interested in looking at it. The unit focus is on puberty and changing bodies, not reproduction. We will show videos to the boys and girls separately and answer some questions if they have any. Be prepared they may come home with some questions.

Letters for promotion tickets went out this week. It is very important that you return the slip requesting the number of tickets you need. A promotion ticket is required to attend the promotion ceremony.
